Viscosity and Surface Tension of Benzene at Saturation Conditions from Surface Light Scattering

Abstract In the present study, liquid viscosity and surface tension of benzene was determined at saturation conditions from light scattering (SLS) experiments between (283 393) K. Based on application hydrodynamic theory for fluctuations vapor–liquid phase boundary which successfully validated by measurements, a simultaneous determination with average relative expanded uncertainties ( k = 2) (1.0 0.8)% achieved. Agreement measurement data reference values available in literature found general also tension, where constitutes recommended material relatively moderate values. All these findings demonstrate repeated time that SLS is suitable method investigation fluids including such as benzene, enables sound representation its presumably result rather random molecular orientation surface. Overall, experimental results this work could contribute to an improved situation particular respect providing viscosities tensions true conditions.
